August 23, Berlin-Reinickendorf
Our tower crane team recently mastered a rather unusual task in Berlin.
The precise model involved in this challenge was a Liebherr 81 K bottom-slewing crane, which needed to be removed from a construction site operated by the company NANE Bau GmbH after completing its assignment.
A weight of 20 t, a radius of approx. 50 m and an interfering edge at a height of 17 m had to be considered when hoisting the tower crane, which had already been dismantled ready for transportation. Under these circumstances, the task could only be performed using a 500 t telescopic mobile crane. To set up the 500 t mobile crane with a luffing jib the day before the planned hoisting operation, a 120-metre-long section of the Wittenauer Strasse road had to be fully closed.
The next day, interested onlookers could watch as the dismantled tower crane was safely lifted over the building and onto the road by the mobile crane. It was then secured on a transport axle ready for its journey back to the WASEL branch in Berlin.
